Allen himself gets a fresh look in a new offense on a one-year deal, but at this stage there's no data on target share or scheme fit, so treat his draft value as speculative — a late-round flier rather than a core piece until camp reports clarify his role.

The bigger fantasy impact is on the incumbents. Michael Pittman remains the presumptive WR1 in Indy, but Allen's presence caps his target ceiling and nudges him from a solid WR2 toward more of a boom/bust WR2-3 depending on how the snaps get split. Josh Downs, who's carved out a slot role, now has a more direct veteran competitor for underneath targets — his draft stock should slide down a bit until you see actual camp usage. Alec Pierce, Ashton Dulin, and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine were already fringe roster pieces, and adding Allen only pushes them further down the depth chart; they're best treated as late-round dart throws or waiver-wire afterthoughts, not draft priorities.

Given the impact score is mildly negative and confidence on the report itself is moderate-to-high, this is a real transaction to account for, but not a reason to overhaul your board wholesale. Draft Pittman as a solid but slightly discounted WR2, keep Downs on your watch list with lowered expectations, and don't invest meaningful draft capital in Pierce, Dulin, or Westbrook-Ikhine until roster clarity emerges in camp.

Allen is signing with the Indianapolis Colts on a one-year, $8.32 million max deal to play his 14th NFL season, ESPN reported late Monday night.

One of the greatest Chargers in the team's history, Allen, 34, has played 12 of his 13 seasons for the Bolts, having rejoined the franchise in 2025 after spending one year with the Chicago Bears.

Now, the six-time Pro Bowler will look to bolster the receiving ranks of the Colts, currently without game-breaker Alec Pierce, who continues to recover from ankle surgery in the spring. Allen's signing could increase consternation regarding the seriousness of Pierce's injury, but it's a move that's been in the works for some time, per ESPN. The veteran's addition should more likely be viewed as a filling of the void left after they traded vet Michael Pittman to the Steelers in March.

With or without Pierce, the Colts' WR room isn't all that deep with starter Josh Downs, Ashton Dulin and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine rounding out the group.

Allen, a 2013 third-round pick of the Bolts, should also be familiar with the Colts offense. Head coach Shane Steichen was with the Chargers from 2014 through 2020, including as the team's offensive coordinator in 2020 and the interim OC in 2019. Allen went to five straight Pro Bowls from 2017-2021.

The Chargers' all-time leading receiver, Allen has played in 171 games with 1,055 receptions (13th all time), 12,051 yards (33rd) and 70 touchdowns (52nd). Interestingly enough, Allen is just 15 catches away in the all-time ranks from Colts legend Reggie Wayne (1,070), who is now Allen's receiving coach.

Allen had 81 grabs for 777 yards and four touchdowns last year with Los Angeles.
